I took this image from the movie "2 million minutes" comparing education systems in the US, China and India. There's something haunting about the image. From the forest-green eyes of the child to the map overlay on her face. I cannot seem to take my eyes of the image.

This weekend was rather lazy, didn't really do much. Went to visit the Harvard museums in between waiting for gels to solidify. So far, I've been to the Museum of Natural History, Peabody Museum, Semitic Museum. Was rather interesting to look at like fossils of wolly mammoths and sperm whales. I'm really surprised at the vastness of the collection. I was viewing the Egyptian gallery alone in the Semitic Museum holding the mummy cases, was a rather freakish moment. Half-expecting the mummy case to open...eeks! There was also a special exhibition on climate change. I'm not a huge museum person, just that everyone has been telling me what a great collection the museums here have that I just had to go see.

I've been looking at stuff to do next summer and teachers without borders seems like an interesting project. In particular, Rwanda looks promising. It's french-speaking, and I believe that they are just starting the foundations of a functioning education system there. Well,I don't think they'll pay me, but hopefully I'll be able to apply for the Weissman fellowship here to pay for my expenses. But I guess that's really one year away, so I do still have time. Though really if you think about it, these things take a long time to co-ordinate...Took me nearly 6 months to put together my China teaching trip the last time.
