think that going into e military will prove to be a culture shock for almost everyone..i'm not kidding...even if u've former uniformed grp experiences (NCC, NPCC etc), think that it'll still be a real challenge adapting to a new lifestyle and giving up the comforts of your civilian life...the first few days that we went in, think nearly everyone in my platoon felt rather out of place...its lyke you'll be thinking, in the morning i was still in my soft comfortable bed covered with a quilt and then suddenly, at night, you're marching to the commands of sergeants and officers....making frenz is not that difficult, cos tough times are good times to breed firm friendships and team spirit...and of cos complaining abt crazy BCCT instructors....hahaa...

lotsa physical training inside..and strength training too...footdrills can become quite a nightmare sometimes..but otherwise its jus a matter of getting used to it, and being willing to give up your CV life..its impt to stay optimistic, and while NS is certainly not a holiday chalet, its definitely beats starving in ethiopia half way across the world...speaking of which, food is good...and so are the facilities...its a brightly coloured complex, thought to be able to help lift moods...naturally i'm also rather thankful that at least my life's not in limbo and i do know what lies ahead after NS (whether or not i eventually get e psc scholarship.... my interview's on the 4th feb.. pray good luck...) speaking of which, i went for e psc psychologist interview on the 10th at orchard road..and it was so weird walking through wisma atria in army camou..uniform....hahaa...

its interesting that my whole platoon takes 2 s papers (thats 50 pple), and apparently so does the other 3 platoons in my company i think...everyday is jammed pack with things to do, that while the initial few days drag themselves by, things move a lot faster now...and we get a lot more personal time to ourselves...here's one of e really meaningful army songs i learnt...

Training to be Soldiers
Fight for Our Land
Once in Our Life
2 Years of Our Time
Have you ever Wondered?
Why must we serve?
B'cos we love our land
AND WE WANT IT TO BE FREE, TO BE FREE ya!

Stand Up,
Be on your Guard,
Come on Everybody,
Do your part,
Come on Every Soldier,
Soul and Heart,
Do it for our Nation
Do it for our Singapore ya!

Looking all around us,
People everywhere,
Children having fun,
While we are holding guns,
Have you ever Wondered?
Why must we serve?
B'cos we love our Land
AND WE WANT IT TO BE FREE, TO BE FREE ya!
