okie, fine - now i have inflated prelim grades....:S not that i'm complaining or anything but i'm worried its going 2 make mi complacent...having a tough time trying to fill up the international student financial aid form. Instructions on the form are nebulus, and yet detailed answers are required, what irony....think e main problem with my econs S is that i'm not reading enough, henceforth i've decided to spent at least 30 mins each day online to prepare a set of notes for myself on major economic events over the past 5 years. i just finished e yuan valuation thingy...so in no particular order, hopefully i can at least cover
- Argentinian currency crisis
- US steel tariffs
- AFC '97
- EURO/common currency
- technology bubble burst of 1990s and Internet bubble burst of 02
- Seattle, Cancun and Doha round of trade talks
- third world poverty
- US budget deficit (which according to Kerry is "as far as the eye can see")
- economic history from classics to rational expectations
afterwhich i can probably turn back to concentrating on environmental, healthcare and demographic economics. think that i'm likely to give up on fiscal/monetary cos its just not my cup of tea....oh ya...i've been thinking that actually I kinda see the point of JS Mill when he argued for proportionate taxes...society should not concern itself with wealth that is deserved but rather with wealth that is undeserved.

hm..today was quite a good day =) i realized that i did better than i expected for bio..and got my 'A', so that means my prelim grades are now AACC, which i think is fairly all right....but i must work harder towards my goal of 4 As, 2 S dist, and A1 for GP....i've been thinking, what an irony it is, i got As for chem and maths in block II, so I decided to work on my other 2 subjects...now i've As for bio and econs, and my chem and maths have been relegated to Cs...hahaa..but no matter, the impt thing is to focus on the task at hand....meanwhile, today was also a happy day cos i got e 100 bucks frm e gsk-edb bookprize...though i muz admit, i still haven't seen that elusive poster anywhere in sch....though i'm told its "around"....hm...100 bucks isn't a lot, but considering that i didn't expect much and was using it more as prac for econs S, i think its a pleasant surprise...=) oxford interviews are in a week's time, wonder how things will turn out...? apparently, i'm being interviewed by a guru in economic history and policy options for OECD countries, hahaa, i think i ought to be thankful (though i wonder if that's how i'll feel after next wed), but at least its not econometrics or microecons.....
on a separate issue, e pearls thing is seriously quite screwed....apparently it only serves to recognize achievements that are recognized by the school, so even if you won a prestigious international poetry competition in a field of 6000 entries worldwide, you still only get 2 points for representation....how absolutely ridiculous....
